The Future of Ethnographic Museums

The Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford  has been collecting music, sound and instruments for over 100 years. On Saturday 20th July, the museum’s composer-in-residence Nathaniel Robin Mann, Noel Lobley (ethnomusicologist), and Rupert Gill (DJ) curate an evening of sound, light and performance designed to transform and reveal the Museum galleries. The performance is part of ‘The Future of Ethnographic Museums’ international conference, hosted by the Pitt Rivers Museum and Keble College, University of Oxford.

Update: Follow this link to watch a film of the event, with Nathan wandering about, putting things in his mouth and getting up to all sorts of other malarkey.
