Pissabed Prophet postponement

Many people have voiced concerns about the health of the Rev’d Matthew Simpkins following the last-minute postponement of the Pissabed Prophet EP launch on 30 November at Three Wise Monkeys in Colchester and the cancellation of their appearance at the Hunter Club in Bury St. Edmunds. Matt was taken into A&E the day after their show at the Shacklewell Arms and spent 10 days as an in-patient at Colchester General. This was followed by 3 days at the Royal Marsden. He was experiencing severe side-effects from his cancer treatment, which caused his immune system to attack his liver, pituitary gland and the lining of his brain, resulting in aseptic meningitis.

He is now back home with his family, under strict instructions to avoid any form of excitement until the end of March. All live commitments are currently on hold, but he hopes to reschedule a launch gig for the band’s Apple EP at some point over the summer.

Meanwhile, the EP has been released without fanfare and is now available to stream, download or purchase on CD. Every time someone buys a copy, I will text Matt to let him know that someone out there loves him enough to spend £5.50 on a CD. I’m sure knowing we can monetise public sympathy for his plight will bring huge comfort to him during his convalescence.
