Doomed Bird of Providence, Sef and Mann Castell live at St. Jude’s
We are delighted to welcome critically-acclaimed dark folk ensemble The Doomed Bird of Providence to Ipswich to play our favourite spit-and-sawdust venue, St. Jude’s Brewery Tavern. They will be playing songs from their latest album, Blind Mouths Eat, which continues their exploration into the bleakest regions of Australian colonial history. Expect dark narratives set to a brooding, dramatic score, heavily indebted to Ennio Morricone, Jacques Brel, Scott Walker and the English Folk Revival.
Madrid-based singer-songwriter Sef (see below) will be also be performing as part of a mini-tour organised to promote his new album, Debout.
Nathaniel Robin Mann should need no introduction to Ipswich audiences. The “Prince of Pigeons” (copyright NRM), “the owner of the most powerful beard in the world” (copyright Dorian Wood) and one third of Dead Rat Orchestra, he will be performing as one half of a new project with Nick Castell. This will be a great opportunity for an early glimpse of a collaborative work still very much in its infancy. Get there early to avoid missing out.
