Dorian Wood Glassellalia book and single
On Monday 29 April, we issue our first release of 2013. And what a release! Glassellalia is the second single from Dorian Wood’s brand new album, Rattle Rattle.
The Californian artist and songwriter had been working on his magnum opus for five years and finally unleashed it in March of this year, to widespread critical acclaim. Rattle Rattle proved to be an album of epic scope; a doomsday opera that could have been conceived by Andrew Lloyd Webber, had he awoken grotesquely transformed into Scott Walker, in some terrifying Kafkaesque mishap.
Glassellalia is one of the album’s mellower moments; a beautiful eight minute piano-led duet with Angela Correa (of Correatown), which may remind people (with sufficiently long memories) of when Antony Hegarty was actually good. The EP also features three non-album tracks, available on CD for the first time. These run the breadth of Dorian’s output, from a tender piano ballad to a full-on apocalyptic cacophony, featuring a 45-member choir. Lo-fi this is not.
The CD is mounted in a 34-page, perfect bound A5 soft cover book, featuring lyrics and all-new, specially commissioned artwork by Dorian himself. People disturbed by images of hermaphroditic cherubs fucking and mutilating each other should probably give this a wide berth, or maybe just download the music from iTunes. But for collectors of his work, this is a must! Strictly limited to 170 numbered copies, this is sure to become a highly sought-after collectors item when Dorian becomes a household name (hopefully for his music).
