Save the children of the future… with our 50% off sale
We’ve decided to extend our dead stock sale in response to the cost of living crisis we’re currently enjoying in the UK. It’s 50% off almost everything (except Saltings and Big Sea by Rev Simpkins and the new MacGillivray album) in the antigen sale. We need to free up some shelf space and save the children of the future from the environmental impact of a thousand unsold CDs leaching toxins into landfill sites around Suffolk.
It may seem astonishing, but we still have plenty of copies of some of our most popular and best-selling items, particularly those dating from the early years of the label. The reasons for this are threefold:
One: The economy of scale in CD and vinyl manufacturing can tempt a naïve label into overproduction. Produce 100 CDs and the unit cost is £3 per CD. Produce 1000 CDs and the unit cost is 65p per CD. When you then sell 100 CDs and factor in promotional costs, you wish you had only made one hundred.
Two: Listeners decided to change the relationship between the fan and the artist. In the old model, the fan would financially support the artist (and the label) by purchasing music, allowing that money to be reinvested in the production of more music for the fan to enjoy. In the new model, the fan sends their money to a billionaire in Sweden. He then invests the fan’s money in weapons technology. The fan sleeps easy, knowing these weapons will only be used to kill people in Africa or the Middle East.
Three: Although I still seriously believe that every human being’s life would be enriched by owning a 73-track 3-CD box-set of Jack Rundell home recordings, this view is only shared by a very small number of other people .
It is within your power to help save the planet with this unique polycarbonate capturing programme. Simply purchase one or more CDs and store them safely at home to prevent them breaking down into their constituent parts in landfill sites and contaminating the water table.
