SuperGlu to play Latitude Festival
BBC Introducing in Suffolk has announced its picks for this year’s Latitude Festival – Frett, Izzy’s Daughter and SuperGlu have been chosen to play the Lake Stage. Needless to say, SuperGlu bassist Krista was incomprehensible with excitement when they phoned her to break the news. Alas, the podcast is no longer available, so you’ll have to imagine it.
This time last year… there was no SuperGlu. Even Ben Club was just a weird all-male retreat, enabling men called Ben to share their feelings without being judged or shamed.
That all changed in October, when Huw Stephens played an early Ben Club demo of Diving Bell on his Radio One show. A first gig followed in November, a few name changes, a single out in April and now a first festival appearance in July!
It is no exaggeration to say that much of this would not have been possible without the support of Graeme and Richard from BBC Suffolk Introducing… whose tireless championing of the Suffolk music scene has given some unbelievable opportunities to local artists.
We’ve recycled this image from the band’s Introducing session on 14 March to show how the band probably would have reacted, had they been together in the Radio Suffolk studio when they heard the news.
