SuperGlu relive the dreams
As part of our doomed resolution to issue every missing record from the antigen back-catalogue, we are proud to announce the release of a long lost SuperGlu single, featuring two of their most popular songs – Dreams and Simmer Down. We made this in 2017, but the band was already in its death throes and the single was never released. We recently dug out a couple of boxes for Ben Brown, so that he could barter them for food on his solo tours with Pet Needs, but now this power pop gem is available in exchange for hard cash for the very first time.
It’s a single that embodies the spirit of a summer that gave the Manningtree-based four-piece the chance to live out some of their wildest wish-fulfilment dreams, headlining the BBC Introducing stages at Leeds and Reading, closing Latitude with a midnight set at the Alcove stage and then jetting off to SxSW for a sold-out showcase for BBC Music and the Department of International Trade, where they were described as “one of the most exciting forces in British guitar music.”
The dream may have since turned into a nightmare, where each member of the band rocks up to work in their underpants, but it was fun while it lasted. Relive the summer of 2016 by purchasing a 7″ diameter polyvinyl chloride disc and watching it rotate on a spindle.
