Sealionwoman bring on the festive cheer
In anticipation of the inevitable re-release of the antigen Christmas Album, Sealionwoman have posted a clip from the recording session at Sam Webster’s home studio that produced their barnstorming Christmas knees-up – Song O’ the Crofters.
The words to the song were found by Kitty Whitelaw in the archives at Cecil Sharp House. The lyric recounts an episode in the infamous highland clearances, when men employed by Lord Macdonald drove crofters out of Suisnish in Skye over Christmas 1853. Most of the crofters emigrated to new lives in Canada and America. Those who had hidden out in the hills were driven out by MacDonald’s men five days later, after they had returned to repair their homes.

The antigen Christmas Album will be available again at the start of Advent.
