Description
Jack channels the millennial malaise of post-referendum Britain into eight idiosyncratic campfire classics, recorded at his home in the wild west of Suffolk, with a microphone from Argos and a rudimentary understanding of Cubase.
Uptempo country and western provides the musical and ideological backdrop to songs that ponder the petty concerns of Middle England, on an album billed by the artist as a ‘subtle and sensitive exploration of the human condition’. Jack explores Sartre’s theories on emotional manipulation, hijacks a mansplaining catchphrase and channels characters confused and alienated by modern life. Hear him pretend to seethe with misdirected envy (It Seems Unfair), boil with infantile rage (I Go Crazy) and slump into apathy (Never Will) over a toe-tapping collection of rural show tunes. Features environmental collapse pop hit Stinking Cloud.
Jack’s a no-frills kind of guy when it comes to packaging – this CD comes with a simple card sleeve in a plastic slipcase.
