Dead Rat Orchestra on Radio Four
After a three week journey, via 273 miles of arterial waterways, the Dead Rat Orchestra reaches the end of the Cut.
A Saturday Live minion is sent up the tow path to catch the boys at a lock near Devizes, to find out more about the background to the project. Hear Robin talk of gongoozlers and the lost songs of the navvies and canal men. And listen to Dan as he explains their unexpected discovery of anthems celebrating the canal construction during the Industrial Revolution and how the authors had trouble finding rhymes for ‘traffic’.
