SuperGlu (formerly Ben Club) are front page news… in Manningtree
The press has been going wild about new antigen signings Ben Club (the birth name of Essex power-pop four-piece SuperGlu). Last week, they quite literally made the headlines… by appearing on the front page of the Manningtree and Harwich Standard. This week, the East Anglian Daily Times tries to find out why people are interested in a band that has yet to make a record or play a gig.
Not since the Monkees has there been such a buzz about an entirely manufactured band who pretend to live in the same house (FACT: only three of members of Ben Club live in the same house). Interest has been fuelled further by the band’s lack of any social media presence. Though, at the moment, it is not clear whether this is a deliberate snub or just symptomatic of their general failure to do normal band stuff, such as produce music for people to listen to.
