Live at the Battle Royale
Fully immersive live recording of one of Mick Squalor's earliest and greatest shows, proving beyond doubt that there are some great songs lurking behind the Dingus Khan wall of idiocy.
Billed as a brutal, all-in, eye-gouging head-to-head between Mick Squalor (AKA Ben Brown from Dingus Khan) and Jack Rundell, the Battle Royale advertising campaign proved to be an entirely misleading ploy to attract punters to one of Ipswich’s smallest and sweatiest venues for a night of acoustic entertainment. But what a night it proved to be! Live at the Battle Royale captures the electric atmosphere of Mick Squalor’s headlining performance, featuring laughter, half-remembered songs, moped impressions, bizarre audience participation numbers, mysterious rustling noises and the sound of audience members walking into the microphone.
Mick Squalor treats an unruly crowd to acoustic renditions of Plank, Made a List and Ambulance from Dingus Khan’s critically acclaimed debut album, Support Mistley Swans, as well as highlights from his vast repertoire of previously unreleased solo material.
