Dingus Khan songs rarely benefit from over-analysis. And this one is no exception. For those of you blissfully unaware, Ivan Ooze was an evil alien despot, who faced off against the Power Rangers in 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. In the film, he was trapped in a hyperlock chamber for 6000 years, before being freed to terrorise Earth with his purple gelatinous discharge.
Ooze may seem an unlikely muse for Dingus Khan lyricist and frontman Mick Squalor, until you discover that both are able to secrete hypnotic mucus that brainwashes people into doing their bidding. How else can anyone explain the cult-like following enjoyed by the Manningtree-based band for the last ten years?
But, Ivan Ooze (the song) has little to do with Ivan Ooze, the evil intergalactic tyrant of the same name. It is (apparently) a coincidence. Watch the video and make up your own mind.
