John Callaghan on the X-Factor
Many of us are eagerly awaiting the return of the X-Factor, so we can laugh along to the gratuitous public humiliation of people with mental health conditions who can’t sing.
Our patience has finally been rewarded, as ITV has aired the first trailer for the 12th series and (shock!) it features antigen records eccentric John Callaghan. Not, as you might expect, as an excruciating comedy turn in the open auditions, but as a lab technician tasked with implanting an electronic chip into Nick Grimshaw’s brain.
Anyone who has seen John try to work his gadgets at a live show, will be unsurprised to discover that this operation goes horribly wrong… with hilarious consequences! Yes, Nick was accidentally lobotomised and has lost all higher brain function and is currently catheterised and fed through a tube. Thankfully, his ability to spout patronising motivational bullshit is unaffected.
