Massar Egbari, Will Newsome and Osten Milne live at Cafe OTO
Regular visitors to this site (if indeed they exist) may have noticed a slightly slack attitude to regular news updates and a disappointing lack of fun-packed events to enliven those idle moments of downtime.
Well, no token gesture of appeasement is too much trouble for us here, so here’s an event:
Our showbiz mate Daniel Merrill (of Dead Rat Orchestra and Sons of Joy) is promoting an evening of revolutionary music (in the true sense of the word), Afro-Celt folk whimsy, sax sadism and amateur DJ antics at London town’s beard-stroking nexus.
Featuring the London debut of Egyptian polit-rock behemoths Massar Egbari, the wistful kora folk stylings of Will Newsome and Osten Milne, who apparently plays the saxophone and seems to have no traceable online presence.
Dan is threatening a live collaboration with Mr Newsome and I will be terrorising the hipsters with a beatless DJ set consisting entirely of field recordings of Georgian table music. Expect long periods of awkward silence, during which you can reflect on the burning political issues in the Middle East.
