Description

Every summer, the Daily Mail issues dire warnings to readers about the dangers of leaving the house. “Britain is under attack from ‘drunk and irritable’ wasps who are going on ‘stinging rampages’ after drinking cider in pub gardens because they have run out of food.” Surprisingly, this time there is science behind the Mail’s hysterical frothing. Worker wasps slave to feed soft bodied invertebrates to the queen and her larval young, but are unable to digest solid food themselves due to their tiny waists. Instead, they feed on a sugary fluid secreted by the larvae. When the queen stops producing eggs, this source of nourishment dries up and the worker wasps find themselves without food, quite literally dying for a pint.

Unfortunately, wasps are notorious lightweights and make for belligerent drunks. But who can blame them? These are workers who have spent most of their adult life supporting an old queen’s grubby offspring, only to end up in food poverty.

Pissabed Prophet celebrate the joys of vespine hooliganism with a new micro-album entitled Apple. Each song was born from the seed of album track, Waspdrunk, which was described by FATEA as “a slow and pensive ode to the meteorological ambiguities of summer.”
