Lightbulb Festival: Sealionwoman at Dead Air 13

Continuing our hilariously counter-productive web strategy of posting updates about exciting antigen-related events that have already happened… We were delighted to be asked to be involved in the Lightbulb Festival of the Arts in Colchester over the weekend.

Friday night was Dead Air Live 13, curated by Lee Ashcroft and featuring Robin Alderton (of Dead Rat Orchestra), Sealionwoman, Doomsday Apocalypse Special and Hong Kong in the 60s.

Many of us were disappointed that Robin failed to show off his infamous cartwheeling skills, but he did manage to create an evocative audio montage, composed of field recordings liberated from the Pitt Rivers Museum.

But for me, Sealionwoman stole the show, with a set shorn of the usual bass loops and electronic effects, with only a voice, a bass and an impromptu display of whistling to entertain the crowd. Here’s a snapshot showing their slightly mixed reaction upon arrival in Colchester.
