Webstore remains closed

Dear friends and casual browsers, I am afraid you will have to continue to make your own entertainment for the time being, as the antigen records webstore remains closed. This is despite the UK government’s most recent advice that it is safe to return to work, as long as we stay alert. Alertness being the best way to avoid invisible microscopic viruses.

It may shock you to discover that antigen records are not shipped by robots from a giant warehouse, but are instead packed lovingly by hand and taken to our local post office. Last week, I checked out the measures they had introduced to protect staff and vulnerable customers. Their half-arsed attempt to prop a wonky piece of Perspex against the counter didn’t fill me with a lot of confidence. The post office is used by a lot of older people in the community to collect their pensions and it doesn’t seem ethical to put them at increased risk of infection for the sake of posting out a few records. We will review the situation again, once we’ve seen the government’s guidance for businesses.

In the meantime, we have been creating free entertainment to stream on Mixcloud and we have several new digital releases in the pipeline.

if you want to support our mission, please head to our Bandcamp page, where you will find a wealth of digital content to keep you entertained in the many weeks of isolation ahead. Or, if you want to kick us in the nuts while we are down, just keep streaming the music on Spotify – every 0.3 pence per stream counts (after deducting the annual renewal fees charged by Tunecore and Distrokid for the privilege of giving away music for free).

Stay safe people! And, if you can’t safe safe…. stay alert (whatever that means).
