From the Wild East of Anglia, it’s yodellin’ Jack Rundell, a man on a one-horse mission to preserve the living tradition of the singing cowboy. He’s here to croon, caterwaul and cattle-call his way through a catalogue of camp-fire classics. Well that was the popular myth. The tragic reality was a serious artiste driven to despair by public perception of him as a one-dimensional novelty act. Jack’s last performance took place at his infamous career-ending residency at the Felixstowe Pavilion. Witnesses claim by this stage he was so morbidly obese, he was reduced to performing behind a giant cardboard replica of his teenage self. Rumours still circulate among his fans that he is alive.
